Building an open-source Dark Age of Camelot client, in public.
A C# protocol library and a Godot client, tested against the OpenDAoC server emulator. This log records what we build and what we find out along the way, including what we got wrong and the source code or packet capture that settled it.
This is not the original Eve of Darkness project. Read about the site and the name.

Which client can talk to an OpenDAoC server?
The official client is now 1.130, OpenDAoC stops at 1.129, and shards ship a 1.127 client. We also read how DAoC's encryption works, and why there's no secret key to find.

Port and test, don't invent
There's no tested C# DAoC protocol library to reuse, but the parts exist. We ported the server's own code and tested it against recorded traffic.

Which version? Writing down what "1.127" and "1.65" mean
The client says 1.127, the server says 1.65, the release says 2026.09.36. We wrote down what each one means.

Getting started: a test server, a search, and a revised plan
We stood up an OpenDAoC server, looked for existing protocol tools before writing code, and corrected our plan in four places.
